Team Projects

Hi,

Lately, I've been doing some individual C++ projects using SDL and photoshop to create simple games. Moreover I've also been reading (and practicing) some directx from a book (still on the very early chapters).

I started to feel that I also need to experience working in a team to be a part of a bigger project. I have been trying to look for project teams (whether making game from scratch or modding) for a while. But to be honest, I don't have much clue where to search for or even how a project team will work. The places I've been looking for are from googling and my campus. By googling, I mean trying the naive way by entering phrases like "seattle mod team" or "seattle mod project". However nothing useful showed up. In campus there seems to be a lot of research/projects going on, but I can't find anything concentrating on game development.

Does anyone have any suggestion where I can find more information regarding this? Are there a lot of teams out there looking for extra help? Or perhaps someone here is looking for an extra member on their team? =) I've also been thinking of gathering some people on my own and start my own team. However, considering my limited knowledge that will not likely be possible for the time being. I truly appreciate any suggestion or direction!

Oops, I forgot to mentioned that I'm particularly interested in the programmer position in the team.
