Hi everyone:

I run a small games studio in Toronto and I've just completed my first iPhone game (currently in submission with Apple). I've been wondering if there are any other iPhone devs in Toronto (there must be)?

I think it would be cool to try to start some kind of iPhone developer meet-up in the city where we could discuss current projects, our challenges, our successes, etc.

If anyone else is doing iPhone development in TO, please post a reply here, or you can also find me on twitter here: http://twitter.com/OwenGoss

Looking forward to meeting some of you!
Owen

Hi Owen,

I'm not sure, but I'd venture a guess that I'm one of the only iPhone developers on the Toronto IGDA forums and active in discussion, etc. In August 2008, I started Movile, an iPhone-exclusive development firm to develop great games for the iPhone.

We employ about a dozen artists, programmers, audio engineers, and concept artists and are probably the largest iPhone-focused development company in Toronto.

If you would like someone to bounce ideas off of, feel free to drop me a line at chris_kalan me.com. Also, come and hang out at our next social event and we can speak more in person and perhaps discuss some projects!

Cheers,
Christopher

Us (Capybara), Shawn McGrath of ][, Cerebral Vortex off the top of my head. Probably one or 2 i missed.

@Chris - I've been trying to make it out to one of the IGDA meetups recently, but things keep getting in the way. I'm going to make an extra effort to make it out to the next one. I was also trying to parse the email address you posted in your reply, but I haven't been able to figure it out. Smile

@Nathan - I knew you guys were doing some iPhone stuff (I've played Critter Crunch; great game!) and I was trying to find a way to contact you. Looks like you beat me to it!

Is a regular iPhone dev meetup something you guys might be interested in? I was thinking of starting it at every two months and seeing how it goes from there. I'd need to find a space and all that, but I thought it might be fun for all of us to connect.

I'm in contact with one or two other devs in Toronto on Twitter who are interested. Let me know if you guys might be interested too.

It's always good to discuss ideas with like-minded (and not so like-minded) developers, especially on the same platform.

I would be interested in it; just let me know where and when! If you are very serious about the development game, come down to San Francisco in March when they hold the iPhone Gaming Summit. igsummit.com

I don't think I'll be able to make it to iGames Summit, but I will be giving a talk at 360|iDev in San Jose at the beginning of March.

I'll keep you guys posted about getting a meet-up going. I'm hoping to get the first one going in late March or April.

Hey guys,

I'm currently looking for some part time work and I'm interested in working on the Iphone. I currently work down in Los Angeles at Neversoft as an artist but with the H1B visa I can't do any part time work for American companies. Canadian companies however I'm free to do as I wish.

I'd like to get in contact with a few Iphone devs above the 49th to get in talks with how we can both benefit from working together.

Shoot me an email at work:

What's with this kotaku site. It hangs Firefox a little and then it tels me if I want to Stop the script, I click yes.

I hope one day to make a iPhone game but it would have to be something really simple in order to meet iPhone hw requirements.

Hey Owen.. I run GameIndex.ca and try to keep up with all the local players. A lot of the people who already responded are on the list and maybe a few more as well. If you ever want to connect and gram a coffee, that would be great.
