Hey I remember seeing your little game demos on pinoyforum. You should round up the pinoyforum crew on here, would be good to know what they're up to these days Smile

I used to browse around pinoyforum a little, but never too actively...what was supposed to set it apart from IGDA manila?

There was a whole Filipino contingent working at Real U before I left, lots of ex-Anino/Pixelstream/Anino guys. Let's see if we can get them to post here too...

A community of gamers + game developers. Its hard to imagine gamers posting here, to tell the truth. If game developers have a strong relationship with gamers.... no, let me rephrase that, if Filipino game developers interacts with Filipino gamers, it would be better for the industry.

A community of Filipino + Filipino game developers was the 2nd objective, but most of them were turned off by the, er, caliber of the discussion.

Interesting Smile Well, what do we know about Filipino gamers?

The Philippines is hot gaming territory, and nobody pays for anything. Except in computer cafes, especially on team on team network games. Because we're competitive and social like that. On those things, players spend an ungodly number of hours...they're sticky, with no ads to be seen anywhere. They won't necessarily pay for character upgrades either; games that try to be inherently balanced via frequent updates (Dota, Counterstrike) have the longest lifespans. Although whether or not the game clients those mods are installed on are licensed is questionable.

I don't know though, if there's one place I want the noise filtered out, it's on developer's boards. Game developers wanting to connect with their players would probably want to set up a proper dedicated venue for it. Which is what you were getting at I guess.

I'm 50/50 with this "relationship with Filipino gamers" idea. On the one hand it would be teriffic to be able to touch base with gamers in our country but on the other hand local gamers have expectations that the game we make will be triple A games like Halo or mass effect, and they'll compare them unfavorably, as they did when Anito was released.

A good idea would be to have a public forum where gamers and local game developers could gather, have round table discussions, talks, and the like.

This is the kind of stuff we'll be discussing in our meetings, hopefully. While we're sober.

Anyway please people, this is the INTRODUCTIONS thread! Smile Big Let's keep it on topic!

Salamat ser! and btw you are now a god just because you worked on KOTOR. I used to pretend to go to work on weekends because my computer couldn't handle that game. I would lock myself in the room and just play all day.
