So the October newsletter was sent out today, in both .pdf and .txt format. I was pleasantly surprised to see that; obviously the volunteers behind this are seeing the feedback that's been passed around, and are actively learning and making it better.

Some of my own thoughts:

-In the .txt version, line-breaks should be added at regular intervals. The classis rule is a linebreak every 79 characters. This will solve the problem where each paragraph ends up being a single line that stretches off into infinity in some viewers, especially browsers.

-The header on the first page of the .pdf version is a bit off, graphics-design wise. I think it would be vastly improved if the silhouettes of the IGDA symbol with the photographs were simply removed. The same goes for the smaller versions on the succeeding pages.

-I'm fairly surprised to see the Montreal Game Summit left off of the calendar at the end.

-I'm curious about the couple full-page advertisements int he magazine. Are those paid advertisments? if so, is it to pay expenses of the newsletter, or simply act as an additional source of revenue for the IGDA? I don't mind, I'm simply curious and would like to know more.

All in all, a huge jump in quality from the last one, both in content and design. I like that.

Guess the email problems haven't been fixed yet, heh.
