• Mission - Focus on professionals. - Students will come regardless. - Networking: - Meet new people within industry - See what others are working on. - Recruitment might result from networking, but there should be no specific job-recruitment events. - Recruit volunteers to help with chapter events. - Action Items: - Develop Marketing Plan (Kenton). - Get listing of IGDA membership within Ottawa-Gatineau area (Brian). • Frequency - Monthly (so as to not lose momentum). - Try shifting the day from 3rd Tuesday of the month to 3rd Thursday of the month. - Start at 6:30: - If starting at 6:30, consider providing food (from companies or from budget). - Continue to alternate business meetings with social meetings. - Host meetings at Fuel and other locations (Bitheads? Transgaming?). - Action Items: - Update website (Dave). - Investigate sponsorship (Steve). - Determine locations for social and business meetings (Dave, Brian, Greg). • Format - Speakers: - Ben Sawyer, Ernst Adams, Jason Della Rocca, people from EA/Ubi Montreal, IP lawyers, Venture Capitalists, etc. - Critiques / Focus Groups: - Present a game or game idea and dissect it. - Current projects: - Local professionals can demo projects/work that they’ve recently completed. - Idea Incubation: - Everyone contributes an idea for a game. Ideas are put into a hat and only a few are drawn. Each group has to flush out an entire game concept based on that idea (either during meeting or for the next meeting). - Topical Discussions: - Example: Graphics vs. Game Play. - Panel Discussions: - Bring in MPs, gurus, local talent to discuss various aspects of video games (example: Violence in video games). - Action Items: - Come up with an event with large appeal within the next 2 months (all). - Try to finalize time for Ben Sawyer (Steve, Kenton). - Determine a list of interesting people, topics, etc. (all).
