Social event and IGDA elections

On Tuesday January 11, 2011 IGDA Ottawa will hold a social event at Bitheads Theater. 

In 2011, we will hold monthly meeting during the entire year! Don't miss the opportunity to discuss with other game developers and be part of your local game community!

We are also holding IGDA elections during that meeting. If you are IGDA members, you are allowed to vote for that election. 

The following roles are to be fulfilled for the IGDA Ottawa Office. If you are interested in applying on a position, we will take the nomination and call the vote during that night. 

Chair (formerly called President) : The Chair shall give active direction and have control of the business and affairs of the Chapter. He or she may sign contracts or other instruments, which the Board of Directors has authorized to be executed, and shall per form all duties incident to the office of Chair as may be prescribed by the Board of Directors.

• A proposed addition of duty for the Ottawa Chapter Chair would be to chair the *Program Committee* , comprised of local volunteers for programming monthly meetings, events, socials,  and conferences for the Chapter.

Vice-Chair : The Vice-Chair shall prepare to serve as Chair the following term. The Vice-Chair shall support the work of the Chair and fulfill the duties of the Chair in the Chair’s absence. The Vice-Chair shall perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Board of Directors. While this is a preparatory role, the Vice-Chair is not guaranteed the Chairpersonship in the next term and must still follow standard officer election procedures.

Secretary: The Secretary shall keep the minutes of the meetings of the Board of Directors; see that all notices are duly given in accordance with the provisions of these Bylaws, ensure appropriate records are kept; and in general perform all duties incident to the office of Secretary and such other duties as may be assigned by the Board of Directors.

• A proposed addition of duty for the Ottawa Chapter Secretary would be to chair the *Communications Committee*, comprised of local volunteers of webmasters, photographers, graphics design, etc., to coordinate and manage on-going promotional activity for the Chapter.

Treasurer: The Treasurer shall be responsible for and oversee all financial administration of the Chapter. The Treasurer shall ensure that accurate bookkeeping and accounting of the Chapter's moneys are performed, and in general perform all the duties incident to the office of Treasurer and such other duties as from time to time may be assigned to him or her by the Board of Directors.

• A proposed addition of duty for the Ottawa Chapter Treasurer would be to chair the *Membership Committee*, comprised of local volunteers for the coordination and management of membership requests, drives, applications, and activity for the Ottawa Chapter.

Term of Office: All executive roles of the IGDA shall be installed at the start of each new Board term and shall hold office for one (1) year until the start of the next term, or until their respective successors shall have been duly appointed.
