Board of Directors

The board of directors is the governing body of the IGDA. The board oversees every aspect of the association, always acting in the best interest of the game developer community. One of the main roles of the IGDA Board of Directors is to create and maintain the mission and vision of the organization including long-term planning, financial oversight, determining and monitoring programs, services and staff and advocating for the IGDA. IGDA board directors are all volunteers.

David Stelzer
Chair, Appointed Term: 2016-2019

David Stelzer
Epic Games
David Stelzer currently works in business development and licensing for Epic Games, helping developers and businesses throughout the Americas and Australia make amazing projects with the Unreal Engine. Formerly, David has been the Head of the Games department at leading entertainment and sports agency Creative Artists Agency (CAA) in Los Angeles, working with many of the industries top independent and AAA developers.

David began his career in the music industry at KROQ in Los Angeles. After attending law school and working as a litigator, he became Director of Business Affairs for House of Blues Entertainment, and went on to become the General Counsel for Sega of America and Southpeak Games. He joined Epic Games at the end of 2015.

David graduated from California State University, Northridge with a degree in Radio, Television, and Film (1994). He holds a Juris Doctorate from Western State University in Fullerton, California (1996), and is an active member of the California Bar.

Vesa Raudasoja

Vesa Raudasoja

Vesa Raudasoja is a game consultant and community developer based in Finland. Passionate about game and community development, his career covers more than a decade in international collaborations, community building, and grass roots efforts in helping people get involved in games. He has been a leader with IGDA Finland for more than 10 years and helped grow the organization into one of IGDA's flagship chapters with more than 1100 members and 12 hubs. He believes in building and empowering small teams, be they IGDA Finland hubs or independent developers. He is a Vice Chair and evangelist with the Finnish Game Jam Association. He is currently working in game business development on a joint project with Cursor and the Playa Game Industry Hub, consulting with game teams in the Nordic and Baltic countries. IGDA Finland awarded him the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015.

Lucien Parsons
Treasurer, Elected Term: 2017-2020

Lucien is a games business and operations expert with a programming background and an MBA in Innovation Management from The Wharton School. His experience covers 4 continents, 8 years of game development, and 18 years of technical project management/production working on everything from Social/Facebook games to the AAA MMO Elder Scrolls Online and Console Titles to serious games for the Rockefeller Foundation, the Department of Defense and hospitals. He was a founder of the MMO studio at ZeniMax, head of operations for 4mm Games (working with Rockstar Games co-founders), and has been a consultant for a variety of game companies on strategic and financial planning, operations, and building online services and community as well as with non-game companies on integrating game design into their products and technology (a.k.a. gamification and usability).

Renee Gittins
Secretary, Elected Term: 2017-2020

CEO / Creative Director, Stumbling Cat
Renee is a multi-disciplinary leader with expertise in software engineering and creative direction. She is the Creative Director and CEO of Stumbling Cat, where she leads the development of Potions: A Curious Tale, an adventure-crafting game featuring a young witch. She began her career with the design and development of cognitive evaluation mini-games and health management systems for X2 Biosystems, prior to joining the game industry in 2014. She has also worked with numerous indie studios as a Producer and as a Server Engineer, as well as a consultant for virtual reality studios and as a Marketing Coordinator on Xbox Games with Gold.

Renee is a passionate advocate and connector for developers and diversity in the game industry. She is outspoken about initiatives to increase diversity both within the game industry and gaming overall, especially within virtual reality. To further support the growth of developers, she also organizes game-jams, panels, job fairs and other developer events as a board member of IGDA Seattle, and actively mentors game development students at Foundry10. Her goal is to help the game industry grow and improve for everyone.

Zoe Bell
Appointed Term: 2018-2019

Lead Producer, Big Huge Games
Zoe Bell is a Lead Producer at Big Huge Games in Baltimore, Mayland. She got her start in the industry as the primary producer for FrontierVille, one of Zynga's early successes. After several years of game development production with Zynga and DeNA, she transitioned to external games produciton with Kongregate. At Kongregate she worked on multiple critically-acclaimed mobile titles such as The Trail, BattleHand, and AdVenture Capitalist with overall downloads surpassing 10 million. During her time at Kongregate, Zoe worked with dozens of small game developers around the world. As a member of the IGDA board she hopes to continue growing the global game development community. Zoe is passionate about making game development sustainable for families and has worked with multiple companies to expand their leave options for new parents.

Emily Greer
Appointed Term: 2018-2020

CEO, Kongregate
Emily co-founded Kongregate in 2006 and took over as CEO in February 2014. She led company's rapid rise as a free-to-play web destination as well as the expansion to mobile, PC & console game publishing, and is well-known in the game industry for her presentations on the economics and psychology of free-to-play games.

Dr. Farhad Javidi
Elected Term: 2015-2018

Dr. Farhad Javidi
Founder & CEO, Simbryo
Dr. Javidi is the founder/CEO of Simbryo Corporation, a North Carolina-based game development company. He serves as professor/chair of the Simulation and Game Development program at Central Piedmont Community College, the fourth largest community college in the US, where he created the first state-approved associate degree program in Simulation and Game Development in the nation. Dr. Javidi's teams have won the ImagineCup US Game Championship twice and were finalists at the World Finals.

Dr. Javidi is a poet, an author, a nationally-recognized conference speaker and, for three consecutive years, a judge for Microsoft's ImagineCup World competition in the areas of Game Development and Mobile App Development. He is the founder of IGDA Charlotte, where he served as chair for two years. He is also a board member of Union Symphony Society, Inc.

Trent Oster
Elected Term: 2015-2018

Creative Director, Beamdog
Trent Oster started developing games in 1994, as a game designer / artist / programmer on "Blasteroids 3D", a truly awful 16 bit Dos game. Later that year Trent was one of six original co-founders in Bioware, working on the action game "Shattered Steel". After splitting off in 1995 to co-found "PyroTech Studios", Trent returned to Bioware in 1996 to ship "Shattered Steel" as lead 3D Artist/Programmer. During his time at Bioware, Trent worked as a Technical Artist, Programmer and Project Director, leading the development of the award-winning Neverwinter Nights from a one sentence description through two expansion packs and over 5 million units sold. After a stint as the Director of Technology at Bioware (and surviving two acquisitions), Trent left the company in 2009 to co-found Beamdog with former Bioware Lead-Programmer Cameron Tofer. When not rapidly switching hats from Director of Business Development to Creative Director, Trent likes to take breaks in the soothing environment of his Mazda RX-7 Road Race car.
