IGDA Perth - March Meeting
The Perth chapter of the IGDA kicked off its first meeting of the year on a warm Saturday evening at the end of March. The date was chosen to coincide with the GO3 Electronic Entertainment Expo and Conference - and so was the location. Metros bar - just across from the Perth Convention and Exhibition centre provided the right mix of atmosphere and refreshment. Most people were tired from two days of conferencing and exhibiting, and so the liquid refreshments were well received.
Chris McCormick who was serving as the acting chapter coordinator for the night welcomed the regulars, as well as conference attendees from interstate and overseas.
Many at the meeting were also taking part in the Interzone nullarbor demoparty which was due to be judged the following day. Although they were generally tired from lack of sleep due to the polishing of their entries debate raged hot on who would win and for what reasons.
Other topics centred around the GO3 Conference and Expo - with Hideo Kojima's keynote just hours before the IGDA function.
The OneTwenty group were going strong. They recently organised a successful video game quiz night and attended the IGDA meeting to wind down from the GO3 Conference and preparation of their iznullarbor entry (which came second in the games category).
David Kazim, the man who conceived and organised the GO3 Electronic Entertainment Expo and Conference - and he is also the IGDA Perth Chapter Events organiser. Here we see him taking some well earned sleep - no time to lie down, there's an expo to organise!
