IGDA Perth - Interzone Nullarbor Deconstructor
The second IGDA Perth meeting of 2007 was a flashback of several months to the Interzone Nullarbor game development competition. Entrants to the competition were invited to talk about their entries and a panel of experts was on hand to give their oppinion and decide a winner.
The favourite of the night, both among the panel of experts and Internet voting was Scott Kerr's entry, Last Dawn. Other highlights included talks from the 'big team' entries from OneTwenty (Zyberflux), Sandbox Software (Dust), and Game Pride (Adrenaline). The passion of the lone creator was also apparent from the emotional doconstruction of Dave's Challenge - by Dave.
The demo competition, although outnumbered by the games entries in nullarbor also proved interesting, with Adrian Boeing giving some insights on how limited size entries are possbile. The night ended with Disaster Area, through an informative, and very cool video of how Amiga MODs from the 80's still rule.
