IGDA Perth - July Meeting

The night consisted of:

8:00pm: A presentation by Robert Barnett, AAA Game Developer
8:15pm: IGDA Perth announcements and call for participation
8:20pm: Drinks, socialising, and DS gaming (BYO DS)

Speaker Bio:

Our guest speaker for the evening was Robert Barnett. Robert's
first encounter with the IGDA was in his final year of a degree in
Artificial Intelligence at university in Manchester, UK. He
gatecrashed it solo in order to meet some people in the games
industry. It worked, and someone suggested he was introduced to a
producer from EA.... 6 months later he had graduated and had started
as a programmer at EA's North-West UK studio. There he worked on four
separate AAA products - including Battlefield 2: Modern Combat for
PS2, Xbox and Xbox 360 - until the studio closure. This was followed
by a brief stint at Vivendi's new Manchester studio, until the
lure of the booming Australian games industry proved too hard to resist,
resulting in a position at Interzone Games, Perth.

DS Gaming over drinks:

Anyone who was anyone brought their Nintendo DS for a multi-player
gamefest! Friends and strangers competed over a (not so)quiet drink.

The raffle also proved popular, with some amazing prizes given away.
