Our November meeting gave us a chance to look at some of the games that came out of the Philly Game Jam 2009, as well as a recap of the event itself. We started with the Game Jam recap, and the slides from the presentation are here:

In this meeting, Ian Perera will recap the recent Philly Game Jam that took place on-site at GameX October 23-25.

A minor, but important, note to anyone who will be attending: the room we will be in for our November meeting does NOT allow food and drink into the room. All food and beverages will need to be consumed outside the room before entering. Thank you for your understanding on this matter.

2009 Philly Game Jam :: October 23 - 25
Welcome to the 2nd Annual Philly Game Jam - Philadelphia’s premier game building event. The Philly Game Jam is a 48-hour game building marathon where professionals, students and amateurs alike can compete to build new game concepts based on a theme announced at the start of the contest.

IGDA Leadership Forum 2009
Join top leaders in the game development industry as they outline their personal framework for successfully advancing game production. The IGDA Leadership Forum program features an exiting lineup of highly respected speakers, like Noah Falstein, John Northan, Michael John, Michael Saladino, David Steele, Clinton Keith, Kane Minkus, Don Daglow, David Edery, and Heather Chandler—among other prominent insiders and is focused on advancing the state-of-the-art in game production and management.
Roundtable Discussions Recap
Our first roundtable discussion meeting turned out to be a success with a large number of participants and some interesting discussions. We started with a few words from our new Executive Director of the IGDA, Joshua Caulfield, who gave us an idea of the direction the IGDA was headed in the future. After that, we broke into our separate roundtables.

Philly Game Jam featured at GameX Industry Summit
Philadelphia, PA---Tuesday, June 30, 2009---The GameX Industry Summit today announced it will host the 2nd Annual Philly Game Jam – the Northeast’s premier game-building event. Co-located with GameX (Games & Media Expo) on October 24-25, 2009, GameX Industry Summit is presented by the International Game Developers Association (IGDA) chapters in New York, New Jersey, Boston, Baltimore and Philadelphia.
New Studios Meeting Recap
The Philadelphia IGDA Chapter's June meeting was a great success with over 35 professionals, students, media and interested parties attending the event. The meeting was kicked off by the chapter's four coordinators covering chapter updates and business.

The GameX Industry Summit is a 2-day games industry conference co-located with Games & Media Expo (GameX) in Philadelphia, October 24-25. Game professionals are invited to submit session proposals for lectures, panels, roundtables and workshops for our ‘Right Brain’ Creativity Track and ‘Left Brain’ Leadership Track. GameX Industry Summit attendees are also invited to attend GameX, the only major game convention in U.S. supported by a major media sponsor NBC.
