The 3rd Annual South Side Game Studio Crawl was a huge success!

Thank you to all who attended and to the game studios for hosting the event. Game developers and game lovers moved along Carson St., most in costume, visiting the studios and enjoying food, drink, and networking. Check out all the photos in the PIGDA Flickr group.

Sim Ops Studios kicked the night off and talked about their Wild Pockets product. Wild Pockets is a web-based 3D game engine that has a social networking component that will allow for collaborative development. Wild Pockets has just entered an invite only beta and they are currently seeking un-paid game creator, tester, programming and art interns.

Mechanimal also presented at Sim Ops, describing some of their museum work with interactive dinosaurs. They've been working with scientists to recreate dinosaurs in 3D browsers and are working with museums to create a 3D library of the species. They are also looking for unpaid interns that have a chance to become paid employees over the next several months.

Next crawlers moved up Carson St. to Schell Games where they enjoyed more food and drink and learned about Schell's 3 legs of game development, 3D Interactive Theme Park attractions, 2D Online Flash development, and console development with the Nintendo DS and Wii.

Alpha Lab, home to Skill-Life, GameHuddle, and Innovation Works had delicious cookies and desserts to munch on while we learned about the many and varied projects that are brewing within this startup incubator. From online comics and social networking to education and legal research, the companies working at Alpha Lab run the gamut.

The night was capped off at SilverTree Media with more delicious desserts, candy, and drinks where crawlers learned about the world of Pixie Hollow, where Disney Fairies come to life in an online MMO filled with pixie dust magic.

There were a lot of great costumes to be seen throughout the night. A skilled group of judges, comprised of one person from each studio participating, came together at SilverTree and decided on winners for the annual costume contest.

The winners were:
