Dear San Francisco IGDA Members,
Over the past few months a small group of San Francisco developers has been working together to revive the San Francisco IGDA. That’s right, the IGDA’s once-dormant San Francisco chapter has awakened.
We’re thrilled to announce that the first meeting will take place at Dolby Labs on Wednesday, May 7th.
We have some very cool stuff cooking up for this event, but we can’t give you all the details just yet. For now, mark the day on your calendar and we’ll update you with all the juicy particulars very soon.
So, why has it taken so long to get this train back on track? There are two main reasons.
For one thing, we basically had to recreate the chapter from the ground up: new volunteers, new sources of funding, a new location for events - the works.
We also wanted to make sure we would provide something the local game-dev community can really use. We didn’t want to offer another “meet-up” event. There are already a couple of good ones. We want the new SF IGDA chapter to not only match, but exceed the quality of the previous incarnation. Through presentations, panels, and other events, our goal is to facilitate the communication of new ideas, promote discussions within the development community and provide a forum for networking and knowledge-sharing.
We hope this sounds good to you, and we’d love to hear your feedback.
We look forward to sharing more details about the May 7th event very soon. Don’t forget to mark your calendar.
Cheers,
