The Seattle area is a hotbed of game development. Gas Powered Games, Rad Game Tools, Microsoft Games Group, Valve, Monolith, and many more. With DigiPen, Nintendo and the Xbox group also in Seattle we can truly claim to be one of the top game development areas in the world.
Where do the developers from these many companies get together to learn new techniques, share knowledge, complain about the idiosyncrasies of console X, or just gossip and schmooze? Sputnik! a chapter of The International Game Developers Association.
For years Sputnik has been meeting on a regular basis. There are no membership dues - all members of the game development community are welcome to drop in. Developers, artists, programmers, game designers, producers and others are all welcome.
Seattle Sputnik usually meets at Digipen Instititue of Technology in Redmond every third Thursday of each month in the evening. A monthly email list* is available to receive updates. Additionally, The Official Sputnik Forum will allow to speak to other members. The Contact page contains more information/details.
