In 2002 in Japan, Techmo won a lawsuit it had filed against DOA 2 hackers who had created a nude mod of the game.
According to the story on gamepro.com, "After a court battle that lasted well over a year, the Tokyo District Court ruled in favor of Tecmo late last week, stating that Westside violated Tecmo's copyright via their futzing around with DOA2 save data."
It's interesting given just how common mods like this are, particularly nowadays.
