Al Lowe on the Need for Comedy in Games
Gamasutra has an interview up with Al Lowe, designer of the original Leisure Suit Larry series: Al Lowe on the Need for Comedy in Games.
You know, maybe there are still people who think that the Larry games were about sex, which I never thought they were. I always thought that they used sex as a lever to make people try the humor.
Humor is often used in various forms of media to take the tension out of a scene or a topic and make it more palatable to the audience. In games with sexual content, humor and sex mixed together well in the Larry series. It'll be interesting to see what Lowe does with his new game.
