Pixel Pulse: Genetic sex of escorts rarely questioned
Pixel Pulse has a great story up about whether you are or you're not who you say you are... and whether that matters at all in the virtual world.
The article reminds me of an interview Regina Lynn did with MTV's GameHead on their "Sex in Games" special. She says that it doesn't matter who's really what until you get off-line. Some sites actually do gender verification of digital escorts, though how effective that could be is debatable.
Not only does an escort’s real-life biological gender seem to be of minimal to no importance to many male customers seeking SL cybersex only (as opposed to Web cam interaction and voice), but it seems that many clubs and escort services do very little to nothing to verify whether applicants, employees and affiliates are genetic RL females.
