The Student Action SIG is currently working on various projects to further its goals.
The Student Action SIG has worked with students from many universities to create the standards for officially recognized IGDA Student Game Development clubs. The requirements are now available for download, as are the forms for recognition and a list of all schools that currently have recognized clubs.
The Student Action SIG Mailing List is a discussion forum for students interested in the game industry and helping start various initiatives to help student efforts become an integral part of the game industry. The list is mostly focused on suggestions for future projects and work on whatever current activities we are organizing.
"Breaking In" is an outreach site to educate high school students, guidance counselors and parents on the potential for careers in the video game industry. This dedicated web site offers information on the various career paths in the game industry; interviews with professional developers who provide advice and insight on getting into the industry and how to best educate yourself. As well as links to additional resources to prepare for a career in games.
The SASIG works with the IGDA Student/Academic Relations, Student Clubs and Breaking Into the Industry discussion forums to publish and discuss student related topics and issues. These forums help facilitate peer-to-peer communication and the sharing of knowledge.
The SIG is currently discussing which projects from the future list should be considered priority.
