IGDA Toronto Elects New President

By Derek Maninang

After 9 years of dedication and leadership, current IGDA Toronto President Josh Druckman announced that he would be stepping down from his role at the end of the year.  Josh along with the members of the committee has been looking for the right person to take over the position.

On September 9th, the Toronto IGDA Committee elected, Lesley Phord-Toy as the new President to head the chapter. She will be officially taking on the role at the start of 2011.

Lesley brings a vast array of experience to the chapter. An engineering grad from the University of Waterloo, she moved to Los Angeles as a Programmer developing visual effects software for Sony Electronics. In 2002 she relocated to Montreal where she discovered her passion for developing games. Since then, Lesley has worked with developers such as Artificial Mind & Movement, Activision and EA to produce numerous game titles ranging from genres for kids to hardcore shooters.  Earlier this year, she accepted an opportunity with Ubisoft to help start up the new Toronto studio.

With Lesley taking on the role as President, the Toronto IGDA Committee are collectively looking towards the future in building a stronger chapter and evolving the association to embrace the fast growing game development community.
