Toronto Chapter
Summary & Pictorial - March '02

Success!
by Jason MacIsaac

In case you weren't there, IGDA Toronto's inaugural bash at Vinnie's last Thursday was a big hit! Attendance was huge, and thank you everyone for coming out and proving that's there a big game developer community here in T.O., and when we're not making games we just wanna party.

The evening was one of schmooze, food, and booze as we all had a few Coronas over nachos and talked about this and that. Chapter Prez Josh Druckman greeted the gang, and we even had a few prizes to give out, including t-shirts, and copies of Medal of Honor Allied Assault and Max Payne for the PS2 (thanks to the Rockstar gang, who were in attendance).

Every aspect of game development was there. We had students from Humber college and McMaster, we had the crew from Digital Extremes (makers of Unreal) and Pseudo Interactive (Cel Damage). Meredith Braun, formerly of Infogrames and Los Angeles, bravely managed to adjust to the harsh Toronto winter (please don't tell her this was one of the warmest on record).

If you weren't there, clip yourself upside the head and vow to be at the next one. We're thinking of doing this kind of thing once every month. Details on the next one will follow, and for now, get yourself added to our mailing list by contacting anne-marie@womenwise.com. And now that you've seen us in action, why not sign up for membership?

See you next time!
