Brian Robbins, James C Smith, Jason Akel, Kane Minkus, Wade Tinney, Margaret Wallace, James Gwertzman, Robert Carrol
[edit] Whitepaper
[edit] Quarterly
- Original idea was to have a smaller chunk of work that white papers
- Also produce something on a more frequent interval
- Most importantly was to present a different kind of information
- More focused on interviews, and opinions than the facts that appear in the white paper
[edit] Where is it at now
- Had 2 issues while still part of the Online SIG
- Another 2 as the Casual Games SIG
- Have lots of people lined up to submit material, but need assistance for production
[edit] Benefit of Quarterly
- Provides and event that is more "PR worthy"
- As opposed to rolling blog format
- We should give people a feedback mechanism
- Use a blog-style format, but update it quarterly?
[edit] Moving Forward
- There's more life and benefit to get out of this
- Just need assistance in making it happen
- How can we encourage more people to write articles?
- Need to be more explicit about this
- What about the longevity of the discussion?
- Searchable archive of the mailing list?
- Can we regularly mine the mailing list discussion and incorporate it into the wiki
- If someone has something to say, we should give them a venue to desseminate the info
- Post to the wiki
- Send to the mailing list
- write up for the quarterly
- Can we lock down the editorial calendar 12 months in advance?
- Make this information public to help encourage more participation
- Publication dates and submission deadlines
[edit] Who does it?
- Wade can continue doing the overall planning
- Need help with sourcing, editing, etc.
- Jason / James C. Smith will help out with this
- We do want to have a loosely set schedule for release
- We have just about missed an entire quarter right now, so we are due for another issue
- Can turn it around in 4-6 weeks, once we get this started
- Wade will do a brain dump on this, with a draft publication schedule via e-mail
[edit] DRM
[edit] Network reach of aggregators
- Jason figure out how to present this to the community
- Where does this appear?
- Wiki?
- Quarterly - have a summary of a larger body of information
- Other?
- Work to fill this out completely over the next 6 months or so
- Really try to understand what the providers are offering here
- Are we concerned about having a format that everyone can modify.
- Does this become a problem?
- How does it get updated?
- How do we make sure that it is only updated by the appropriate people?
- Just put this in the wiki, and let the community update?
- Do we need to worry too much about this before it becomes a problem?
- Issue here is making sure that we have volunteer moderators, vs. editors. . .
[edit] Generic Business Information
- Providing generic business docs
- Hiring practices
- HR Policies
- Contract summaries
- Information is already getting out
[edit] Quarterly Promotion
- Post the info, then have an interview in the quarterly
- Robert Take the lead on this
- Post the documents to the Yahoo! group first, so we can get peer review first
- Should get this going in mid-September
[edit] Casual Game Post Mortems
- Lump these into the Quarterly?
- Depends on the deadlines for everything
- James C Smith can help take the lead on this
- Have Robert help out with this
[edit] Encourage more articles and data sharing
- How do we do this?
- Through the Quarterly
- Have an open call for submissions
- Make sure people know it is worthwhile
- Encourage people to writeup their research findings
- Download sizes?
- Trial length?
- etc.
