[edit] Next Call
Tuesday April 4, 2006 2PM EST/11AM PST Brian will send out Outlook reminders for that
[edit] Publication Update
[edit] White Paper
- Have a revised schedule, working towards edits
- Final edits by May 20th for possible Casuality printing
- What makes sense for printing?
- Print the abstract and include the full paper on a CD?
- May be branding issues with including it in a CGA magazine
- We need to "encourage" people to contribute more
- We will have a section editor planning meal on Wednesday at GDC (sponsored by CGA)
- Editing will be opened to entire casual games list post-GDC
- May need a new section editor for Market section
[edit] Wiki
- Have a page up for Casual GDC stuff
- Can we get stats?
[edit] Quarterly
- Quarterly will be targeted for early April
- Electronic version only
- This should be largely the "Game Design" issue
- Should we take the Quarterly to more of a blog format?
- We'd like to encourage comments and discussions
- Can we allow comments on a generic web-page, or does it need to be a blog?
- Other advantage is that a blog would make publishing much easier
- Brian will check with Jason to see about possibility of having a blog setup
[edit] Other Initiatives
[edit] Data Reporting Standards
- Have an initial XML format for Steering Committee review today
- Need to get feedback
- Next step is to create a standardized Schema
- Will be sending out this XML to the data initiative list soon
[edit] Job Postings
- Nothing really has happened lately
- Was discussed on Online Games SIG call
- CGA is setting a job posting site
- Use pre-purchased URL's to wrap around the CGA job posts
- Need to get some design time to try to make this work
- Maybe we just redirect it over to her list?
- Don't get too fancy :)
- Preference is to have everything at CasualGamesJobs.com and OnlineGamesJobs.com but co-branded between the groups
[edit] Conferences
[edit] GDC Prep
- Dinner on Tuesday Night?
- IGDA Annual Meeting and new member reception Tues 6:30-8
- 7:00 @ Il Fornaio - Wade is thinking of another place for dinner
- It is on the "trolley street" behind the hotel
- Wade will let us know and try to make a reservation
- Wade and I will try to coordinate a time with Jessica to discuss
- Minna Mingle
- Wed 8:30-1:30
[edit] Parties at E3 / CTIA?
- We are okay with this but need to figure out branding
[edit] Casuality
- SIG have some sort of editorial role for the Casuality content?
- Want to raise the level of in-depth for the developer related sessions
- Could this be presented as an IGDA track?
[edit] CGA vs SIG Positioning
- We need to figure out the difference between the SIG and the CGA?
- Setup a time to talk with Jessica at GDC
- How do we define what each group does and doesn't do?
- Need lines, but lines also create more confusion
- What are the value adds for organizations, what do they do?
- SIG is a lot of data-sharing, developer advancement, etc
- CGA is working on similar stuff for data sharing, magazine, and conferences
- With all of these initiatives that are being co-sponsored we are adding to the confusion
- Discuss more at dinner @ GDC
