- Advergaming is arguably one of the sub-sectors within the serious games industry that's the furthest along in the space. Previous Serious Games Summits have spent little time exploring and outlining the field of advergaming, game-based messaging, or even the growing trend of using games and game culture as overall marketing approaches. Yet the field continues to grow in dollar value and impact. This year, a four-hour block of advergaming content is presented over two-days which explores all aspects of the advergaming and game-based market field.

- Moderated by Independent Games Festival Chairman Simon Carless, this roundtable is an open forum to discuss the state of independent games in 2006. How are consoles affecting the marketplace? We'll be aiming to cover all of those questions and more through considered discourse.

- The 5th annual web-based games roundtables will again attempt to dissect the web-based game space for the attendees. We'll look at what has happened in the past year, compare that to what we thought would happen, and try to determine what we expect to see in the year to come.

- The nascent casual games industry, estimated to reach $2 billion by 2008, is booming. This panel discusses the business of videogames, and the new business models as well as opening markets for game developers and game studio owners.
- Web-Based Games Roundtable - Community Issues 9:00am — 10:00am Brian Robbins
- Web-based games includes any game played within a web-browser. This includes everything from limited demos promoting full featured downloadable games, advergames, and even full-scale MMOs built off of web technology. Today's Community Issues session will address all aspects of community and user management of web-based gaming. We will talk about how to develop communities, how important a community can be to a game, and how communities have changed over the past several years. We'll also take a look at where community management is going in the future.

- New to Windows Mobile development? In this demo-intensive session, learn how to use Visual Studio 2005 and the .NET Compact Framework to develop casual games for Windows Mobile devices. - Web-based games includes any game played within a web-browser. This includes everything from limited demos promoting full featured downloadable games, advergames, and even full-scale MMO's built off of web technology. Today's Production & Design Roundtable will focus on issues surrounding the design and development of these games. What types of limitations are there? How does web-based delivery provide additional game opportunities? What is the future of web-based game design?
- Casual Games: Lost in Translation? 12:00pm — 1:00pm Min Kim
- This session clarifies the item selling business model (microtransactions) of online games presenting the success of non-subscription casual online games in Asia. This is done by visually demonstrating successful titles, organizing the building blocks/obstacles to such successful online games, and challenging non-asian developers/publishers to consider alternate business models in their game design.
