What is project Top Secret?

David Perry, famous director for Earthworm Jim, publishing company Shiny Entertainment, the director of Project Top Secret has teamed up with www.acclaim.com creating the first ever videogame created and developed by use the fans. The project started online at Acclaim's web site where gamers logged in over 30,000 gamers since late February of 2007. As of October 2, 2007 this unique and fun racing game is building its design and getting some very strong support by the community of gamers in the project the designers, to create what could be the first commercially released accessible game for user interface and controls for the main functions of playing the game. Members and gamers can still join our team by registering and logging in. In all the game also is a competition for the designers on the team supposedly one lucky very devoted and large contributing member will be chosen in the end to direct their own online game with Acclaim. What's more impressive is the opportunity to get your name in the credits for the completion of this game which is a tremendous opportunity for anyone's resume if not one of the best opportunities for designers to get into the industry.

What is the game about?

The Top Secret game project is an adventurous racing game unlike any racing game before, where the player chooses their character and chooses their mounts or beasts to race on their unique challenging tracks, an online community developing your beasts abilities and racing and fighting to get to the finish line.

What is being done to make it accessible?

Robert Florio who is one of the ongoing designer volunteer on the project and also, quadriplegic artist game art and design student at the Art Institute online accessibility SIG member is leading the accessible designs with much support and original ideas from other members and coming up with unique ways of making the controls accessible including the user interface. The project is always fluctuating forward and backward in progress since it is one of the first ever if not the first ever fully funded sponsored game completely created by the gamers and the fans. The project is a unique opportunity for gamers to become designers and learn about the industry and gain tremendous experience as design leads, designers and artists, programmers, musicians, animators, everything that is needed to make the game the designers bring their talents and contribute.

How can the accessibility community help and what is the project looking for from them?

The project is still open for anyone to join and become a member of the design team but for the purpose of making the game as accessible as it can be anyone who has an interest, like designing games, who is an independent developer, perhaps college students or college independent developers, studying a topic or has an interest in game accessibility can join the project and give us your input and see your ideas implemented. It is an excellent opportunity to learn and be part of something that is a great opportunity and creating a really fun game.

What progress is made so far on the project? (This section will be used to keep you updated on what has been done and is being done for the completion of this project)

As of October 2, 2007. The game now has a functioning design document which can be found on the wiki link at the top of this page. The design document and the design team with the community are working on completing the document ready for independent developers to come on and join our team to actually build the game. A competition has been released inviting all independent and all developers to come look at our design document, start developing and creating our game building it, and a huge money reward given to the development team chosen to complete the rest of the project.
