Game Writers SIG/Initiatives/Hall of Fame
International Game Developers Association
An online Game Writing Hall of Fame could be constructed to promote excellence in game writing. This could be linked from the Writing SIG pages and widely distributed. Could get us (and Game Writing) some great word of mouth.

Concern: The vast majority of people involved will be from the North American region, but we really want to give a fair crack of the whip to all writing, don't we? I'm deeply concerned that this will inherit the same problems as the Developers Choice Award, namely that it reads as a "what sold the best in North America" list.
Response: Here's how I envision the process going.
- Someone on the writing forums nominates a game for the Hall of Fame.
- The forum debates hotly about how to rate the game for each of the different elements.
- If the game rates highly enough (more than 9 perhaps on the Overall score?)
- It gets added to the Hall of Fame.
I don't see anything stopping the nomination process from crossing cultural boundaries - and if someone can support their position that it deserves high marks in the judging elements and overall scores, I see no reason why the latest thing from Japan can't be right up there with the latest thing from North America. All it requires is international participation - which I think we have at least a little of on the forums.
