[edit] Wiki

All members now have profiles. There is a problem with consistency of naming in user page names. Elonka will fix.

[edit] 2006 Whitepaper

NOTE: Larry Mellon was not on the call so this issue was pended until we can receive an update from Larry. JH will follow up with LM offline. Notes from previous call:

The decision was taken NOT to proceed with the transfer of the previous whitepaper to the Wiki as a priority as this would be counterproductive to the creation of the new Whitepaper. Rather than morph the previous publication, the committee felt that starting afresh and pulling in content from the previous whitepaper where appropriate is a more sensible plan.

Larry Mellon agreed to be editor in chief of the 2006 Whitepaper and will begin work on a framework for its content. Thanks Larry!

We have decided:

  • We will not convert 2004 to the Wiki as a priority.
  • Next meeting's agenda will include a postmortem of the 2004 Whitepaper. What worked? What didn't?
  • Larry will set up the '2006 Whitepaper Intro / Contents Page' in the Wiki to become the basis for our discussions on the content / framework for the 2006 Whitepaper. Probably one week before the next meeting.
  • Discuss new topics / framework at next meeting
  • Next meeting will be July 12th - 6pm > 8pm ET / 3pm PST /
  • Confirmed 2006 Whitepaper contents outline up on Wiki by July 19th
  • Larry will present plan for contributions

[edit] E-Newsletter / Website / Podcasts

E-Newsletter

JH will produce first E-Newsletter content by 7/31/2006 for review by team. This will inform elements of the new OGSIG destination page.

Until the IGDA offers us a better integrated solution, we will continue to utilize the Yahoo Groups mailing list (IGDAOnlineGames@yahoogroups.com), attempting to clean up / update the list to be representative of the current member group and interested parties.

PF will transfer the content of the current idga.org/online page to a new page within the Wiki that will aim to serve as our new OGSIG top page.

[edit] Podcasts

  • Jonathan created an area on the Wiki to coordinate / plan

http://www.igda.org/wiki/index.php/Online_Games_SIG/Podcasts

Please update this with suggestions.

We are looking for some software that will enable the recording of a Skype or VOiP Conversation to use instead of the digital recorder box.

http://www.podcaststation.com/default.asp ($59.95) http://www.macdevcenter.com/pub/a/mac/2005/01/25/podcast.html (re. Mac OS but useful nontheless) http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ (free - looks good)

are possibilities.

First podcast interviews:

James Hursthouse, Chair, OGSIG on SIG direction Daniel James, CEO, OOO, on raising money in the games industry

Theme of the first E-Newsletter will be 'Financing Your Game'

E-Newsletter / First Podcasts / New Website will be available in time for Austin Game Show (i.e. end of August)

[edit] Forums

JH proposed approaching Ryan Shwayder (mmoroundtable.com) to possibly take over as moderator of the IGDA OGSIG forums / possibly mirror his threads on that site.

[edit] Paul Kim

Paul Kim (VP of Business Development / GoPets, Seoul, Korea) will take part in the committee from the next call.
