[edit] Overall Section Direction

The original idea for a publishers section stemmed from the Online Games White Papers started in 2001. The basic goal was to provide developers with information and contacts for how to actually get their game out into the market. With "core" games this almost exclusively meant getting the game published through a publisher, thus we have a publishers section.

Maybe what we should do is rename this section to something more appropriate like Bringing the Game To Market (a bit wordy, but you get the idea). In that respect the listing of companies that you can work with to bring your game to market is appropriate. It also demonstrates the desire to provide other useful information on the process for getting the game out there. Brian Robbins 09:33, 16 Apr 2006 (EDT)

Changing the focus could drastically change the scope of what this section covers, especially with reference to the publisher survey that we are planning. However, I think an appropriate solution would be to continue with the publisher survey as that is the primary way for developers to bring their games to market. We can then include information and text that talks about some of the other methods available (self-publishing, etc).
In the end we can only include the content that contributors can put in, so we should stub in what we'd like to see and encourage people to fill in the areas they can speak to.Brian Robbins 10:12, 17 Apr 2006 (EDT)

[edit] Formatting

We need to figure out how to format this section this year. Last time around we did interviews with companies. That format is not ideal for a Wiki, and would need to be updated for this year anyway. --Dubane 20:48, 2 Jan 2006 (EST)
