[edit] Introduction

  • Holy-Strike Premise - Holy-Strike will be about asymmetrical game play and tactics. The subject matter will take on aspects of current events but will liberally add elements of historical fiction. This mod will focus on multiplayer only and allow from 16 to 32 players at the same time.
  • The Game Engine Used - will be the Source engine from Valve (Half life 2). Many art/resource elements will either be used from the existing game or be created from scratch.
  • Victory Conditions - Like the envisioned combat, will also be asymmetrical. One of the purposes of this game design will be to push the envelope of game play normally found on internet FPS games.

[edit] Core Game play

  • Winning condition - The Coalition wins if they kill all the holymen on the Holyside. The Holyside wins if they occupy all of the contested points located in the game map.
  • Respawning - The game will implement a respawn system found on many typical online games. Both sides will be allowed a respawn system. The Holyside will have a unique difference. While everyone on the Holyside will start as a holyman once any of the holy players have been killed they will be “transformed” into a follower and never be allowed the privilege of being a holyman again (or at least until the next game round).
  • Weapons – The coalition side will use an array of current style weapons ranging from hand weapons all the way to advanced high powered rifles. We may wish to look at things such as flame throwers and the like. The holy side will comprise of more unorthodox weapons such as C4 strapped to the player’s chest, to mystical things such as “holy swords”, curses and blessings.
  • Skill Points - A system by which players can "upgrade" weapons or items to help create a deeper game play experience
  • Note - In the end both sides should have very unique and fun to use weapons.

[edit] The Teams

  • The Holymen - This is a non descript religous group that has certain general beliefs. One of which is that all the sacred control points belong to the true believers. And it's their job to take them back!
  • The Military - These guys are the standard army material and are ready to do thier job, where ever and what ever that may be. Today's assignment is eliminating the religous insurgents that inhabit the local town.
