Kvetching

This month's Bitch Magazine features several articles on games, and includes an interview with our very own Heather Kelley!

I'm not gonna lie to ya - the article has some flaws. In particular, the premise (male "game nerds" should get over their subconscious urge to mimic testosterone-laiden assholes that plagued them in high school... which in turn will stop them from making games about football or racing, and turn them away from sexy female avatars) ignores many important realities of game development and game marketing. But rather than go on about that stuff (I'm sure you're all painfully familar with it already!) I'll just encourage you to go pick it up and judge for yourself.

Taking the long view, this is good press to get (an exploratory piece that puts women who work in our industry in the spotlight and lets us speak about our work/process/expertise/goals). But getting something even better (say, an inspiring article that showcases the places where games are striking out against gender stereotypes... in development and in content)... that's definitely something worth bitching about!
