Hosted by the IGDA Game Accessibility SIG, GAConf is a day of talks and networking exploring recent and future advancements in the field of game accessibility. Updates, case studies, and in-depth guides.

Covering a wide range of topics, such as the results of tackling accessibility early in indie development, AAA vs blind accessibility, streaming as a means of inclusion, prototyping with accessibility switch users, implementing an accessibility function at publisher level, and the varying perspectives of deaf gamers.

IGDA Annual General Meeting, Thursday, 22 March from 12:45 - 1:45PM, West Hall Room 3005

The International Game Developers Association's Board of Directors and Executive Director provides developers with a summary of the association's progress over the past year, as well as an overview of what's in store for 2018. There will also be a Q&A period to get feedback and input from the community and a chance to meet the new board members. The IGDA is a non-profit professional association committed to advancing the careers and enhancing the lives of game developers worldwide.

Don't miss this critical membership meeting and overview of the organization's past year and its future! Any interested individual is encouraged to attend, you don't need to be an IGDA member.

NOTE: Lunch will not be provided, but attendees are encouraged to bring their own.

IGDA Mentor Cafés

The IGDA is excited to bring the IGDA Mentor Café back to GDC 2018 to kick of year three of the program. IGDA Mentor Cafés are designed to provide bursts of meaningful learning and each one is as unique as its participants. IGDA Mentor Cafés are open to anyone in the game development community seeking mentorship regardless of years of experience and provide a great opportunity for newcomers to the game industry to become an active member through short mentoring sessions. Topics range from diversity initiatives, career advice, indie studio start-up and much more.

The IGDA will host two IGDA Mentor Cafés during the week of GDC 2018:

  • Wednesday, 21 March from 6:30-9:30PM - Diversity Event - learn from mentors who can specifically help with creating a more inclusive studio culture, hiring practices, and management challenges
  • Thursday, 22 March from 6:30-9:30PM - General Event
